Continued Production

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of updates (we have an ill-advised habit of waiting until we feel like there's a milestone to report). Production is largely where it was before - final proofreading for the book is still ongoing, as is the production of minor filler elements for the pages. It's all coming to a close soon, though, and we're very excited to get the PDF out to everyone! I think we're more proud of this book than any other we've worked on. Thank you for allowing us the space and consideration needed to extend our schedule to replace the AI assets we were misled into using - they have been purged, and we love the new art far more than the old!
While I'm here, today we released an expanded compendium of the splash books we released in 2025. This book is 280 pages of 5E content, including setting info, classes, subclasses (including some for the Dragoneer, which only you guys have seen so far!), spells, backgrounds, and of course, a wealth of great art! If you're interested, please click the image below to be taken to the DTRPG page!
EDIT: Quick clarification! The compendium does contain a lot of new material - enough extra and expanded content to fill an entire fourth book, including entirely new races, new subclasses/subraces, backgrounds, a whole bunch of new monsters and NPCs, etc.
Phase VI: Bestiary II (Plus Asset Mishap)

We've just uploaded the final playtest phase for backers through the BackerKit: the second half of the bestiary. There are various elements included in the book that haven't been in the playtest material, but they're small things. Please check the BackerKit to take a look at this latter half of the bestiary, as we continue with proofreading, copy editing, and asset generationfor the completed book! The end of the tunnel is in sight!
Asset Mishap
Unfortunately, we have an unfortunate speedbump that we're embarrassed about. You can read about the full issue at our Patreon update - click here - but we found out last month that an artist we have been working with for about a year was using AI assets/generation in their work. They didn't do much work on Zagalhta's Exolunar Collection in particular, but as a company that doesn't stand by the use of AI, we are committed to removing their work and replacing it. Regrettably, there was a lot of work they did for the splash books we released this year that had to be redone, and we've been pouring all our energy into replacing their work on the whole. This means that about ten art pieces (all of them character art) have to be remade for Zagalhta's. We're doing it as quickly as we can, but we're embarrassed that it happened to begin with, and we're sorry for the delay.
We want to double down on noting that we don't believe in generative AI use in the TTRPG space, or any other creative space, and that while we messed up here and didn't catch this when we would have liked to, we're going to be more prudent in the future, and work to make this right. The generative work will be burned out of our work and replaced.

Update Addendum - Tariff Reduction (and Playtest Files Sent Out)

Ah, I forgot to mention this due to a ton of multitasking on our part! Thanks to the success of our BackerKit campaign for our splash books, we're happy to absorb an additional 5% of the tariffs on books coming into the US. We weren't sure if we would be able to chunk into more of that, but it did well enough that we can pass more savings along!
As usual, if you aren't in the US, don't worry about these - they won't affect you.
Digital Files
As of this message, I've also distributed Phase 5 of the playtest material through BackerKit!
Final Playtest Waves, Tariff Charges on the 10th, and Project Completion Status

Hey everyone! As I’m sure you noticed, we’ve had a slight delay on charging for tariffs and taxes - it’s because we’re trying to work around certain products (books) being tax-exempt in certain parts of the world, but BackerKit is not giving us a way to exclude just those items from being taxed. For those locations (which there are very few of), we’re going to have to credit those accounts with extra funds before charging taxes so they zero out, and it’s a bit of a slog (but we’re getting it set up). We expect to charge for taxes and tariffs on the 10th, so be prepared for those charges then!
As we’ve said before, if the tariff situation changes between now and shipping, we’ll be happy to refund the difference. We’d actually like to avoid changing tariffs now, but we’re required to charge them and taxes together due to BackerKit’s mechanisms. We’ll be submitting some suggestions for how they might change these steps in the Pledge Manager in the future.
Playtest Material
I am, as we speak, writing the first of two waves of final playtest material for the guide: each is one half of the bestiary! This will feel the most “complete” as it will include the full art for the section, though it will be in greyscale like other playtest material. We’ll be sending half of the bestiary out at a time.
Project Completion
We have a very small list of art assets that need to be made for the book (like less than a month of work between our artists), then we just need to do final copy-editing, and then we send out our print orders. There will be a brief period when we send out a less-than-complete preview PDF to everyone through BackerKit while we do copyediting, so everyone can get a sense of the whole book and express any final concerns they might have! This could be as soon as the start of next month.
